Canadian Idol

I perosnally hate all of the Canadian/American idols!! I hate how they've been dragging them out for almost 7 years now. then they come up with things like On the lot os so you think you can dance and then pirate master its actually going from like bad to worst although i must admite i do like pirate master! But Canadian Idol needs to go its seems to only be the only thing ever on and im sick of it!!!!! Canadian Idols is soo 2000!!

Pirate Master

Have you seen the new survivor?? Its called pirate master and its like survivor execpt they are standed on a boat and one by one they vote eachother off. They get sent on pirate missions and are fighting for 1 millions dollars this show is very dramatic and fun to watch if you up for something desiving and dramatic tune into the next pirate master tuesdays at 8pm!

Summer Dresses

Its now summer and the shopping must begin! I was looking through a few magazines the other night and this summer, summer dresses are going to be so popular. Even places like Bluenotes are starting to sell dresses and bluenotes is more a preppy punk store not very girly. Anyways, this new summer trend is fun for every one. there are so many differnt designs to different colours and different patterens to fit everyones personally clothing trends. their going to be soooo popular. my favorite is this little brown one my mom bought the other day at old navy! I think you will like them to. and not only are they colourful and summery they're also afordable! the one my mom picked up was only 20 bucks! what a deal eh!? I say go pick yourselves up some summer dresses!!!

Dr Phil, is he really here to help?

First of all I was watching Dr Phil yesterday night at 5 pm and honestly i use to love that show but to me it almost seems a little Jerry Springer to be but in a middle class way. Instead of a " you slept with my brother sisters friend and is not pregnant with his baby" its more like "my marriage is a wreck and my husband cheats on me with my sister" and Dr Phil didn't seem to help them at all it was almost as if he was just exploiting their personal issues and i was disgusted! i turn it off. Honestly Dr Phil is only looking for ratings and money i personally believe hes not here to help anymore! Like yesterdays show was about these two crack addicted prostitutes and one was pregnant and didn't no who the father was. All her did was exploit their issues and to me it seemed like he did nothing to help these twin girls...

Momento

Mmento is a movie that you really have to pay attention to in order to get it. The film starts and its the end of the movie, literally. This movie is a tough one to understand it is like a puzzle and one all the pieces are together its a great movie. i recently went on to rotten tomatos and the movie review gave it 3 thumbs up! i deffently recommend this film if your in for somthing a little...puzzling!

Heroes

Who's your hero? Your mom, neighbor, teacher? Most people look up to the celebrities for their guidance. How to dress, how to act, how to look. Kids now have more celebrity idols from the high class world then ever before from athletes to actresses to politicians and even business executives. Has anyone looked at our "Heroes" recently? Miss USA almost had her crown taken from her for underage drinking. Both Nicole Ritchie and Paris Hilton had DUI's. Britney Spears has been in trouble from driving with her child on her lap. Barry Bonds has been caught more then once for steroid use. Also some religious leaders have been publicized for being pedophiles. Are we looking up to the right people to be our role models? I think children should look up to their parents or someone that isn't this bad in the law. They should look up to the one's that teach hem the most in the world and that giving is better then taking and to think of others before yourself. Not how to take drugs run from the police and cheat at sports.

What If?

What if there were no journalists in the world? I think the world would be a better place for everyone. If there wasn't any journalists i think that people wouldn't be as stressed, and girls would look a lot healthier than they are also i think that there wouldn't be as much crime. I believe that people act on such things hoping they'll get on television. Girls wouldn't look into magazines or at sitcoms thinking they must look a certain way to be popular or be beautiful. Then again you wouldn't know if obesity is a problem in your town either. There also might be a murderer going around your city you wouldn't know about or even what he looks like so you could avoid him or keep your children safe from him. The weather, you wouldn't know if you should prepare for an earthquake or a tornado. We wouldn't know what was happening in the war or what Iraq even looked like. If people were looking to buy a house or cars they would have to look right in around the town they live in. So therefore after all my thoughts i think that there should be journalists to keep everyone updated on everything they need to know to be safe and protected.

Bias in the Media

I find that the newspapers that we get weekly always have a negative issue right on the front cover and why? Do they think that the public love reading about horrible things in the paper? I know i hate it do they ever put anything positive on the front? i find that the only positive we get from the front page is when i see something about sports. I'd like to see a lot better things written in the paper rather then people writing in complaining about everyhting or people writing about all of the horrid things kingson has going on right now. the editor is

5 Year Old Rebel

In the paper a couple weeks ago there was written an article saying that there was a kindergartener that just grabbed his bags and walked down the street instead of being in class. The police found the little boy down near a local park with his backpack. Don't you think it's weird how a little boy could find his way down the road with no help what so ever? Okay maye not weird just it makes the school look really really bad though. Do these teachers even pay attention to the kids as much as there suppose to? Do they just care about gettin paid? Anyone have answer to my questions? I think teachers have also changed sooo much from what they use to be like. Well from the definition that my mom gave me and what i see at school now. They use to be in charge and strict and never did dress the way they do now either. Times are changing, slowly but surely maybe for the better.. maybe for the worse. My question are students learning better now rather then when they did back then?

Odd Girl Out

This movie is kind of like what our school is in general..well kind of. The stereotypical girls gossiping about one another and getting mad becaus the boy likes some other girl. Is this to much stereotyping for one movie? In the movie the bestfriend gets made fun of because she eats alot of food that have a lot of carbs, she also cuts her hair because she gets really frustrated with all the girls at school that start to make fun of her. Skinny, beautiful, long smooth shiny hair. Did i mention she was popular before she started eating more and chopping her hair off? I think girls now a days really do care to much about looking the right way, weighing the right weight talking to the right people to be popular. I think it should all be more about the way of feeling good, if your comfortable or not in what your wearing, eating what you want when you want and how much of it you want, i think you should talk to who you want without people labelling you in whether or not your punk prep or whatever. My Question... who are these girls trying to impress, or do they just act, dress and look like this for their personal enjoyment? In my opinion though girls just don't walk around with 2 cm worth of cloth around their thighs that they have to keep pulling down every 2 minutes very comfortable.

Country vs. Hip Hop

Your choice. Which one do you listen to most, and don't say both you have to pick one and stick with it. I truly think you can figure a person out by the type of music they listen and it's so easy to... okay maybe just for me, but seriuosly look at a person and guess at what genre of music they listen to I bet you'd guess it on the first try.Personally i loveeee the good ol' country tunes couldn't live without them. I was reading an article out of a magazine the other day and it said everyone listens to different genres of music depending on the situation and like to listen to it whether it be just 1 completely different genre or 4 different ones for example if your goin to a party you may listen to rap or if your out in the country drivin down a dirt road country's there right? So anyways next time your trying to figure out someone ask what type of music they like to listen to haha you might actually get somewhere with it.

Rachel louise Carson

Rachel Louise Carson was born May 27 1907 , in Spring dale Pennsylvania. She was an outstanding writer, ecologist and scientist. She graduated from college of women in 1929. She also received her MA in zoology in 1932 at the John Hopkins University. She was hired by the U.S. Bureau of fisheries to write scripts for a story called "Romance under the waters". In about 1936 Rachel was the first woman to pass the civil service test. She was then hired as a full time junior biologist by the Bureau of fisheries. After 15 yrs of being in this service she became the chief editor of publications for the American fish and wildlife services. In the 1940's Rachel continued to write books and at the time president Kennedy took a look at one of the books she had written and called for testing from the chemicals written in the book. Rachel Carson was then called the Mother of the Modern Environmental Movement.

Advertisements

Hockey games, local bowling Allies, the movie theatre's, walking down the street, golfing centres and even in our own school gymnasium. Can you guess what I'm talking about? Advertisements. They're everywhere no lie! Can you believe it though an advertisement in our own school. Telus mobility,more oh la la in your blah blah blah. the advertisement is for cell phones, I think it's a really good idea because where else is a big popular place that kids often carry cell phones around? I think this world is getting way way to commercialized, nothing is plain and simple anymore. Just recently i went down to the Caribbean and everything i seen there was sooooooo commercialized like one said "come here and try a nice refreshing cold Coors light cause you never know when you might need one

walking in this heat." Thinking about all this publicity for everything makes me so sad I think eventually the world is going to run out of money and food but there will still be advertisements around for like the last banana ha ha it's funny but it is also really sad. My question... do we really need advertisements in this world or would everything be able to sell on it's own without the media's help?

Girlfriend

Have you seen Avril lavignes latest music video for the song girlfriend? It's pretty catchy if i do say so myself and it's actually kind of weird to just because Im' use to seeing Avril Lavigne with punk clothes on.I still remember when she came out with that song complicated and all the little girls would idolize her and where her ties and skateboard with punk clothes. Now her newest version of music is almost more pop like than Britney Spears or Hilary Duff. Is the media only giving Avril this much attention because it's that kind of music? Or maybe i should refer back to my other post with the whole blonde scenario, because yes Avril lavigne does now have blonde hair with a bit of pink streaks in it. I mean I think I enjoyed Avrils music more when she was punk. She had a lot of fans and still more then enough media and paparazzi. The song kind of reminds me of chearleading because she repeats herself kind of like that "Hey Mickey" song. I don't know maybe it's just me that thinks that about Avril, and i don't have any less resepct for her and I don't think i ever will because she comes from my old hometown but i wonder if all musicians are eventually going to turn out like this and start singing pop music. I'm not saying that there's something wrong with pop music it's just that there should be a big variety of music, because there's a wide variety of different interests and people. My question...if you were in the music industry would you sing songs that are more your style or different genres of music because there's more money and media involved with it?

Survivor

Is any one watching survivor this season? Then you'll know that it should be called lifestyles of the rich and the famous. Actually maybe not that far but pretty darn close. The show is called survivor for a reason. They put 18 or so people on an island and see them live for about 2 months on their own no family members and no friends. No communication with them no pictures. They made them catch their own food,start their own fires and build their own shelters with no lumber to help them and no steak beside you when you Hungary and no furnace that you can crank up when your cold. You had to get use to the feeling that the woods is where you relieved yourself and the ocean became your bathtub. They split the teams up and each week do competitions the team that loses goes to tribal council. The team then votes off a teammate of their own. well that's how the last 8 or 9 seasons went. Until this season. This season one of the camps have everything going for them. They have a bed for them to sleep on with blankets and pillows even also a hammock and food, hunting gear and fishing gear to catch more food if they need it and a shelter to keep them from gettin wet during big storms. They also have a outhouse to use with toilet paper and a coffee machine. It sounds like to me anyone could survive that. To me it just seems tis year the survivors are getting spoiled. I thought they had this show to help people appreciate the finer things in life and not take things for granted. I wouldn't be surprised if this show's rating went down this season because it's not as exciting anymore as it is use to be people fending for themselves and fighting to stay alive (stay in the game). In my opinion i think they should either make the show better to view or get rid of it all together before it gets to bad and becomes a show related to desperate housewives and how can they survive the neighborhood gossip.

The Beach Is That Way

Every year kids skip one day out of all the school year and head down to the sandbanks. The time of year even kids with super strict parents let there kids go to. It's where all the girls can get excited to go buy there new bathing suits and clothes for the parties afterwards and where the boys can go just to watch the girls in their new bathing suits haha but both genders go on beach day to take the day off but who wouldnt. i mean everyone would love to take off the day to go to the beach with their bestfriends just to hang out in the sun all day listen to music eat and catch waves. my favourite part is probably when everyone is in the water splashing around just havin a good time i hate when it like the next year of beach day and you pull out your old bag and it still has sand all in it ugghh. Well i say if your goin to beach day this year you should probably hurry to find yourself a ride because theres not gonna be a lot of seats left this year i heard its gonna be big like everyone going because so many missed it last year. Last years beach day was unfortunately rained out but there was still a few people that ended up going. Im excited for this years beach day, hopefully everyones ready for it cause its commin up really soon.

Blondes vs. Brunettes

Blondes have more fun. who actually can scientifically prove that they do? I mean i've partied with both blondes and brunettes and have had fun with both and i know probably more brunettes that can party alot harder then blondes and be more fun to hang out with. Like both blondes and brunettes are fun ...... you can put them together and have the frigin time of your life. so whats all the attention going to blondes for? is it because of the stereotypes big boobs and ditzy= really hot and lots of fun? as appose to brunettes who dont really get recognized?when you look at it brunettes should get more recognition beacuse they were on earth first they pretty much created blondes. well kind of. but even when you look at celebrities brunettes can be beautiful to jessica alba for instance shes brains and beuaty and then theres paris hilton and shes just well shes pais hilton i thinkshe speaks for herslef and jessica simpson to maybe she is really smart and she doesnt know the difference between chicken and tuna..... but who came up with this whole idea anyways? but if i had it my way the world would be set to be brunettes and then there would be no complaining.

Latest Trends

I hate walking down the hall everday and theres a new trend like everyother week. Its so hard to follow them that i've just decided to stick with jeans and a t-shirt for the rest of my school years. The latest trend now i think is sundresses that are comming out for the summer. I actually really like the look of them that i went to go buy a couple the other night, haha guilty as charged. but the trends that were over the winter were ugly things like skinny jeans and like sweaters with little icons on them that look like long johns that you wear under your pajamas. but the skinny jeans are ugly as sin and i dont mean to offend a lot of people because i know that alot of people wear them and i bet that theirs clothes that i wear and a lot of people hate to but honestly skinny jeans?ugghh at least the sundresses are cute and comfortable walking down the halls of ess and watching guys have tighter jeans on then you do and wondering how he could fit his you know what into those jeans without breaking it in half kinda freaks the crap outta ya not gonna lie hahaha. i mean i dont care what people wear it just bugs me how quickly they change their style and where they get the money to do it to. i mean i ain't spoiled, the money that i work for goes towards a car and college and any clothes that i wanna buy ......and colleges dont come cheap now a days. and as i've seen in stores to their clothes dont come cheap either takeamerican eagle for example unbelievably popular and soo crazy expensive i mean you can buy the same clothes in other stores for a lot cheaper and once again walkin down the halls of ess and almost 99% of the school where's AE its ridiculous its like saying accept me because im wearing the same thing as you and once again im not tryin to offend anybody and at least AE has updated clothes like if i wanted skinny jeans or long jons i could have just asked my mom to just save her clothes so i could wear them.
